Applicants do NOT need to be students to work at the Provo MTC. You do need to be legally able to work in the country of the MTC in which you apply.
Most openings for Mentors come in April/May and July/August. However, we accept applications at all times.
Positions could vary in length anywhere from a few months to a couple years.
Please apply to all areas you are qualified for.
On average, 20,000 missionaries come through the Provo Missionary Training Center each year. But the MTC is more than a housing facility. This position is central to the missionaries' role to Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. Each generation of missionaries has the potential to become the greatest generation the world has known. We are committed to helping every missionary who comes through our physical or virtual doors achieve that goal. We need the greatest generation of employees to help these missionaries.
When you become a part of the MTC, you will work with talented people who are committed to living and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. While each position will have its own roles and responsibilities, all positions will be empowered to bless the lives of missionaries. We are looking for covenant keepers who are interested in growing and developing themselves and others.
ADJUSTING TO MISSIONARY LIFE MENTOR
As an Adjusting to Missionary Life Mentor you will help missionaries strengthen their discipleship in Jesus Christ and build the skills to manage the demands of missionary life. Most of your work will be done with missionaries preparing for the MTC (pre-field), but you will also have opportunities to teach missionaries on-site during their MTC training as well as in-field. You will fulfil your purpose as a mentor by helping the missionaries apply the principles taught in Adjusting to Missionary Life and Preach My Gospel in 1-on-1 individualized mentoring sessions.
A deep commitment to Jesus Christ and His gospel in your personal life.
A desire to help move the work of the Lord forward as a returned missionary.
Strong willingness to receive and apply feedback from supervisors, peers, and missionaries.
Ability to give feedback to missionaries to help them improve.
Willingness to observe missionary standards.
THINGS YOU'LL DO
As an Adjusting to Missionary Life Mentor, you will be responsible for planning and leading instruction based on the current curriculum. You will use an assigned teaching model for each activity to provide the optimal learning experience. Specifically, you will:
Contact missionaries assigned to you and invite them to participate in Pre-MTC tutoring sessions.
Prepare 30 minutes for your shift each day to ensure an exceptional experience for the missionaries.
Meet with your assigned missionaries in online tutoring sessions at the MTC.
Follow the curriculum and adapt to the needs of the specific missionary.
Report on tutoring sessions as directed by your supervisor.
Attend a weekly training meeting as conducted by your supervisor.
Schedule Details:
Mentors will work on-site at the Provo MTC and host one-on-one meetings over Zoom. Rather than being assigned a set shift, mentors on the Adjusting to Missionary Life Mentoring Team counsel with their supervisor to set a schedule that meets missionary needs. Each teacher is responsible for meeting with their assigned missionaries within their set schedule. In addition, each mentor is required to attend an in-person team meeting once per week. The benefit of additional schedule flexibility is balanced with increased expectations for each mentor to be professional, timely, responsible, and accountable.

Expand your capacity to lead by learning the value of one-on-one and large-group relationships.

Missionary Testimonials
“As I’ve gotten closer to my mission, I think this is honestly the best thing that I didn’t know existed—these meetings and this type of thing—because it’s definitely brought my mind closer to preparing to serve a mission and I really appreciate that. I probably thank you every time the same, but, just thank you!”
“This has really helped me to prepare for my mission. Honestly, without it I feel like I would have been laying around my house not really thinking much about my mission, but after we started doing this in my mind it started becoming more real, like ‘I am going on a mission, so I should start acting like I am going on a mission.’ I feel like my mood has been better; when I started doing this I started actually implementing those goals that we’ve talked about, and I’ve been a happier person!”
“I can’t even tell you how much I’ve used everything we talked about in pre-MTC mentoring. I can’t even imagine how hard it would be without all the practices and things we talked about. And it’s so good to see my progress with the goals we set and that I have kept working on.”
